Well day one is in the books and overall not much new. This is actually a good thing because with the new format Ed can go slower and bring the complete newbies up to speed.
Our task was to practice defining 3 markets -> niches -> micro niches. Complete time spent counting watching the movie was less than 15 minutes. Gonna go and do some more work on my blog and get ready for day 2.
The other day (the 7th) they had a surprise show on UStream that I wasn’t able to catch live. Luckily they have posted it and I’m sharing it here. Actually still haven’t been able to watch it but I now that its on my blog I’ll be sure and make the time.
Dale lays out the expectations of everyone who is taking part in this years Challenge. My expectations are to be involved in every activity and to learn the process. I want to truly understand the whys and hows. I think that earning that first dollar will take care of itself.
Since I kind of ripped on the choices of Chrome extensions in my last post I wanted to go ahead and list the ones I use. To be fair to Ed and the others I don’t know what they have planned for us so the extensions I didn’t choose to install now may become vital in the near future.
Digg for Chrome & Stumbleupon – I am bad at forgetting to maintain my social bookmark profiles so having them right there reminds me and makes it easier at the same time.
My Shortcuts – Gives me quick access to all the Google services I use all the time like Gmail, Docs, Wave, and Calendar. It saves me some typing or finding bookmarks.
SEO Site Tools – This is my SEO addon of choice for getting info on the current site/page. Describing everything it does would take a whole post but I highly recommend it.
SEO Quake – This is my other SEO addon of choice. It does more but I mostly use it to get info on the sites that come up for search terms.
Speed Tracer – Professionally I’m a web developer and in house SEO so I mostly use this for work. Page loading speed is more of a usability/user experience thing but Google does factor it in rankings (not highly).
Table Capture – I need a better addon for copying tables (Firefox is much better than Chrome for this) but this addon at least lets me copy the text of a table in tab eliminated form. I use this a lot.
Web Developer – Like SEO Site Tools this does so much and if your not developing websites then you wont need 99% of it.
Thats all of them. Some of you may have noticed that I don’t have Firebug Lite installed. Thats because I find the built in Chrome tools sufficient and for when they are not I just fire up Firefox.
I have been using Chrome since release and have tried out lots of extensions. These are the only ones that have stuck. I like Chrome because of its low memory footprint and speed so I quickly uninstall any extension that I don’t use. Hope this helps someone.
